This place has the best vegetable rolls we have ever had. The sushi was simple, but packed with so much flavor. The basic ramen was good. The nigori sake was good as well. We didn't care to much for the salmon skin roll. Service was great and ambiance was cool too! Great place for date night!

EXCELLENT ALL AROUND! Our ramen dishes were plentiful and tasty! Appetizers were great. Maybe will skip the seafood trio next time to try other dishes. Party of 6 so tip was included but we were charged an extra 20% on top of the 18% (default on their ipad) so I called and this nice lady immediately resolved the issue by refunding me the double tip. Thank you for your honesty and taking care of your customers!'

Ramen Ryoma always caught my eye while driving through Hillcrest (glass building; cool aesthetic) and so was finally able to go on a Saturday night. They serve 3 types of broth (Miso, Shio, and Shoyu) with the menu listings being slightly different depending on what toppings you want in your ramen. The first thing I noticed was how affordable everything was! All of their ramen prices range from $11-16 which is great. We started with the chicken karaage which was a nice appetizer. Juicy and moist, a solid start to the meal. The main star of the meal was definitely the Corn Butter Miso Ramen. After asking the waitress what is the best broth with the Corn Butter, she recommended the Miso and she was definitely right! The creaminess and overall flavor was hard to match and we really loved this ramen. I also got the Delux Ramen with the Shoyu (soy) broth. This was also very good and a bit more on the savory-side. I personally don't get Shoyu often and so this was definitely a nice change of pace. The one thing that really disappointed me was the egg in my ramen. It was definitely not jammy/gooey but it was somewhat cooked through. I doubt this is their intention since that's not how ramen eggs should be but once I took a bite I knew that it wasn't right. All in all this is definitely a place I would add to my ramen rotation!

I've been sleeping on Ramen Ryoma, but not any longer. Finally dined at the Hillcrest location and was able to walk in on a Saturday night to sit at the bar top. We started with the chicken karaage (2 pc) with the garlic dipping sauce. The chicken was moist and came out just out of the fryer and paired with the garlic it was great. As for the ramen, I've never seen butter in ramen before and the waitress suggested I try it with the miso broth. Bomb suggestion. The creamy miso broth with the melted butter in there was so delightful. The chashu melted in my mouth and there was minimal fat on the meat which made it so tender. I have zero complaints. On top of it all, the prices are so reasonable. Between the prices and the flavors it's an easy five star and I'll be asking everyone I know if they've been before.

My friend and I visited this cute little ramen shop after a night out in Gaslamp. We were craving salty broth and she recommended Ramen Ryoma. We arrived around noon on a Sunday morning. There was no street parking near the establishment?? We circled around the nearby streets but found nothing. Diagonal from the restaurant, there was this vacant lot that we saw a few cars parked, so we tried our luck over there. I don't recommend parking here because 1) it's very tight, 2) we were boxed in to our spot after lunch and had major difficulties leaving :( However, the restaurant was not busy, and we were sat immediately. We had plenty of time to look over the menu. Service was friendly as he checked on us twice throughout our meal. I ordered the deluxe bowl with the shoyu base. It was salty and flavorful - exactly what we needed that morning. The pork was very tender, and an appropriate amount of noodles were provided. The egg was also soft, and I wish it was cut in half (not a big deal).
